How Do I Change My Password on Facebook?

If you Facebook solely on your computer then the steps to changing your password are going to be a little different than if you primarily use your mobile device. With that in mind, let’s look at each way in turn starting with how to change your password when you are logged in on your computer.

Changing My Facebook Password on a Computer

1. Login to your Facebook account. You can do this by going to facebook.com. On the right side of the screen, you will see the login prompt. Enter either the email address you use for the account or your phone number and your password. Then click the blue button under it labeled “Log in”:

2. Once you are logged in, click the down arrow. It will be located on the top right of the screen.  Then click on Settings & Privacy:

3. Next, click on Settings:

4. Now click on Security and Login:

5. Click on the Edit button next to Change password:

6. You will need to enter your current password and then enter your new password, then click Save changes:

You now have changed your password. If you need to change your password because you forgot it, then you can still take the same steps above, but make sure to click “Forgot password” first. Or you can log out completely, click “Forgot password” on the login page, then follow the directions which will be sent to your email address to reset it. 

Changing My Facebook Password on My Mobile Device

If you primarily use Facebook on your mobile device, then you will take the following steps.

1. Launch the Facebook mobile app and click the three horizontal lines on the bottom right of the screen:

2. Tap on Settings & Privacy:

3. Tap on Change password:

4. Enter your current password, followed by your new password:
